How to install an eSIM on Android
First dial *#06# to check for an EID (no EID, no eSIM). On Android 10 or later you can open your eSIM page in Chrome and tap "Install on this phone", or scan the QR code from Settings: on Pixel, Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM; on Samsung, Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM. When you land, switch mobile data to the eSIM and turn on its roaming.

Before you install
Dial *#06#: you need an EID to use eSIM. Samsung phones sold in Taiwan only have eSIM from the 2026 Galaxy S26 series, Z Fold8/Z Flip8 and similar (phones that support eSIM). The phone must not be carrier-locked.
Install it on Wi-Fi before you leave
Pick any one of the methods below. Installing needs an internet connection, so do it on Wi-Fi before your trip.
- A
Install directly on this phone (Android 10+)
Open your eSIM page in Chrome and tap "Install on this phone". Some models don't support this yet; if nothing happens, scan the QR code using one of the methods below.
- B
Google Pixel: scan from Settings
Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM; when "Connect to mobile network" appears, tap Set up eSIM and scan the QR code. You can also upload a QR code image or use the troubleshooting link to enter the code manually.
- C
Samsung Galaxy: scan from Settings
Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM → Scan QR code; if it won't scan, choose to enter the activation code. Menu names may differ slightly by software version.
- D
Other brands
Search Settings for eSIM or SIM, find an option such as "Add eSIM" or "Download a SIM", then scan the QR code.
⚠️ A QR code can usually be installed only once. Don't delete the eSIM after installing it.
When you arrive: switch your data line
- In SIM settings, set mobile data to the travel eSIM (Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs, then choose mobile data under the primary SIM).
- In SIM settings, tap the eSIM and turn on Roaming (called Data roaming on some models). A travel eSIM always connects abroad by roaming, so it won't work with roaming off.
- Keep roaming off on your home SIM to avoid roaming charges from your home carrier; it still receives texts.
- Open a web page to check you're online; if not, toggle Airplane mode on and off once.
FAQ
How do I know if my Android phone supports eSIM?
Dial *#06#: if an EID (a 32-digit number) appears, it supports eSIM. The same model can differ by the country it was sold in, so go by the EID.
If I install before I leave, do the days start early?
It depends on the plan. Most plans start counting the first time they connect at your destination, so installing early is fine; each plan's page and your eSIM page say when it starts.
Can I reinstall an eSIM I deleted by mistake?
Usually not; most QR codes can be installed only once. Make sure you no longer need it before deleting; if it was a mistake, contact support with your order number.
Menu names follow the manufacturers' guides below (Traditional Chinese editions); names may differ slightly between software versions.
