Which phones support eSIM?
iPhones from iPhone XR/XS onward and Google Pixel 4 or later support eSIM. Samsung phones sold in Taiwan only support eSIM from the 2026 Galaxy S26 series and Z Fold8/Z Flip8; Taiwan versions of the S25 and earlier have no eSIM. The fastest check: dial *#06# — if an EID appears, your phone supports eSIM.

10-second check: dial *#06#
Open your phone's dialer and enter *#06#. If you see an "EID" (a 32-digit number), your phone supports eSIM. No EID means no eSIM support.
Check in Settings
- iPhone: Settings → General → About. If you can see an EID, your iPhone supports eSIM.
- Android: the location varies by brand. Usually look for EID under Settings → About phone (or Status), or check Network & internet → SIMs for a "Download eSIM" / "Add eSIM" option.

This list only includes models whose Taiwan-sold versions are confirmed by official sources. Not listed doesn't always mean unsupported (new or less common models) — dialing *#06# for an EID is the most reliable check.

When eSIM won't work even if your model is listed
- Samsung depends on the country of sale: Taiwan versions of the S25 and earlier have no eSIM; most S20-or-later and Z Flip/Z Fold phones bought abroad do, but dialing *#06# for an EID is the definitive check.
- Some iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao are dual physical SIM versions without eSIM (per Apple).
- The phone is carrier-locked (contract phones or locked phones from overseas carriers). Ask your carrier to unlock it first.
FAQ
Do I need to remove my current SIM card?
No. eSIM phones can use a physical SIM and an eSIM at the same time: keep your home number for SMS verification codes, and switch mobile data to the eSIM while traveling.
My phone isn't on the list. What should I do?
Dial *#06# and look for an EID. If it's there, your phone supports eSIM (the list may not include new or less common models yet). If not, consider a physical travel SIM or your carrier's roaming.
